Academic Conference on Global Communication in the Age of Smart Media

Examining Reality and Imagining Future in the Era of Smart Media

The global communication landscape is becoming unprecedentedly diverse and multidimensional thanks to the revolutionary development of intelligence technology. Technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and 5G networks have profoundly transformed the media environment, deconstructed and reconstructed the power of communication, and thereby changed the media- information and media-society relationships.

Smart media have become a fundamental system for the survival and development of a society, and the information domain is expanded on the scale of holography, whole process, and global. We must observe and examine the complex interactions between media and communication, society, culture, and political economy, the power structure behind them, and their corresponding benefits, in order to cultivate a future-oriented structure for smart media.

Specific research questions include: What subjects are promoting the development and application of smart media technologies? What new scenes and new relationships are created by smart media? What kind of information is generated? What types of communication phenomena are incubated? What are the underlying concepts and interests that drive the transition of media? Starting from the examining the reality and imagining the future in the era of smart media, this postgraduate forum aims to deepen the understanding of new structures, new phenomena, and new questions in communication society.

This online graduate forum welcomes academic and practical presentations, focusing on but not limited to the following topics:

  • Smart media and industrial changes
