Prof. Benjamin Kidder Hodges is part of a new painting exhibition “PEOPLE MATTER” at Artelli Macau which features three of his oil-on-canvas paintings, “Beach Excursion”, “Tropical Interior”, and “We Saw it from the Shore.” The exhibition invites 5 established local and international painters, Crystal W.M. Chan (b. 1986‧Macao), Carlos Marreiros (b.1957‧Macao), Konstantin Bessmertny (b. 1964‧Macao), Benjamin Kidder Hodges (b. 1977‧Richmond, Virginia), Issei Suzukio (b. 2001‧Tokyo) and Jonni Cheatwood (b. 1986‧Los Angeles). to share their portrait paintings.
Prof. Hodges is an artist and anthropologist originally from Richmond, Virginia, USA whose art draws on folklore, mythology, and media archaeology to uncover overlooked histories and imagine possible futures. A Fulbright grantee with a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin, Hodges has exhibited internationally, including at the Art Macao Biennale and the SVA Gramercy Gallery in New York.
The Exhibition Period runs from now until 31 March 2025. The Artelli Macau gallery, located in Studio City, is free and open to the public from 11:00-20:00.
