New Book Launch By Prof. Agnes Iok Fong LAM, ‘The Beginning of the Modern Chinese Press History: Macao Press History 1557-1840’ 曾經在澳門發生的東西文化交流，不僅只有建築物和土生菜，其實還有： 耶穌會傳教士利瑪竇和他的傳教拍檔羅明堅，不僅曾經在澳門學習中文，還曾經偷偷的在澳門印刷中文的聖經經文。不過他最自豪的不是曾經引入西式印刷術到澳門，而是在澳門用中式印刷術印經文，可以把漂亮的中文書法向西方引介。 基督教傳教士馬禮遜在自己的家中印刷中文聖經，印澳門的第一份中文報章和中國近代第一份中文刊物，又在東印度公司印刷所（慈幼中學前身）印刷世界上首部中英文字典，中國第一份中英雙語報刊。 澳門曾經出現中國第一，世界第一的出版物，這些圍繞傳教士，出版業和印刷術的故事，讓澳門從此進入世界歷史。
