The 3-day conference has attracted some 120 scholars, researchers, professors and graduate students working in film, media and popular culture studies from the interdisciplinary field of the arts, humanities and social sciences. UM Dept. of Communication signs exchange agreement with Lisbon Consortium allowing for student exchanges in the areas of Creative and Cultural Industries.

In July, Tim Simpson delivered an invited keynote address at the Lisbon Summer School for the Study of Culture, a graduate program offered by the Catholic University of Lisbon and the Lisbon Consortium. While in Lisbon, Prof. Simpson and Prof. Isabel Gil, Dean of Human Sciences at Catholic University, also signed an exchange
