(MIS)COMMUNICATION: an artist’s talk that addresses problems of communication generated by artworks
Abstract:
In an attempt to address problems of communication and mis-communication in contemporary art practice, Prof. Roger Palmer will present examples of several of his projects that recall or propose historical connections between Europe and other parts of the world. He will also discuss his work-in-progress provisionally titled Time in Macau. The pictures present complex layers of spatial information that can only exist as photographic picture-planes. Their primary focus is on seemingly insignificant fragments of architecture and signage, and the ways in which these might reflect cultural shifts in relation to local topography and climate.
